This Battery Pack is a MUST for Wii Fit, No Copper Tops Required

Being a Wii Fit owner and user and going through batteries rapidly in the first couple days I saw this product and said I must have it. It isn't expensive when you think of the $100s that would be spent on batteries. The batteries made for digital and games are even more costly than so called regular batteries.
This product is great, a requirement for hours of Wii fit use and simple USB connection for charging. Yes, the chord should be longer, however, just grab via Amazon the USB cable extension (9.8 feet) and you should have no issue with connection due to distance from Wii unit to computer or other USB powered device.
For me all of my Wii, HDTV, sound system, desktop, and laptop are all in close proxsimity living in a NYC apartment.
Simple fixes for the the short chord are as follows:
1) if you have a laptop and being they are quite mobile, keep it nearby and thus you can connect the charger to the laptop.
2) Or plug it directly into the Wii console as for me the console is close enough with the chord to do so.
3) for $4-$6 look for the "Cables To Go" brand of the USB 10Ft extension. Link here - Cables To Go - 26686 - 3M (9.8ft) USB A Male to A Female Extension Cable (White)
I have a few and the are great when you need to have equipment either further apart or guests are there and the extra length is needed etc.
In any case I suggest and recommend this product for all Wii fit owners, well worth the $20 price tag for the 100's saved over time with environment killing batteries. |

| Like the Wii remotes, the Wii FIT balance board is a battery drinker. I would strongly recommend this rechargable battery pack. The pack connects to the Wii system when not in use, standard charge lasts over 20 hours of play, longer (following future charges). The pack itself fits neatly into the bottom of the balance board, lid and all. The only product negative may be that some other brands may cost slightly less |
Battery Pack for the Wii Fit

| Why have to worry about the battery power on the Wii Fit when you can just plug it in and forget about it while it's not in use. The Wii Fit uses a lot of energy if you are on it for long periods of time. This is a great option. You can plug it in overnight and then when you are ready to use it you can unplug it and move the balance board wherever you like or you can leave it plugged in, the cord is pretty long. Either way it beats replacing the batteries so frequently. |
Works fine and saves lots of money so stop complaining

Unless you have your balance board in a room down the hall or your Wii mounted to the top of a flag pool, this item is fine.
After reading some balance board reviews and complaints of poor battery life, I bought this and have been using it for four months now without a problem.
This plugs into one of the Wii USB ports instead of an outlet. That's good if you do not have extra outlets. Of course it will not charge when the Wii is powered off, just like any USB charging device. The USB cable is standard length. If for some reason your Wii is mounted to the top of your house like some of the fools here, you can simply buy a USB extender or plug it into any computer or any other device that will provide wall outlet to USB power (most of the cheap universal charges support USB).
The best thing about this pack is that it can remain plugged in to the board while you are using it and will continue to charge the battery. |

It is a good thing to have.
Plug it in when wii is not in use, to get a full charge.
Unplug to play with a 100% full battery power.
IF the adaptor cord were longer.... you could leave in while you play... but the cord is to short to be able to do that. |

This item is perfect!
I plugged it in the back of my Wii for 22 hours for charging, snapped it into the balance board battery compartment and I was off and running. No problems with power, power cord or having to "jury rig" the batteries to make contact as someone stated they had to do. The board also kept sync so there was no need to resync.
If you own a balance board this is a MUST. |

| This works great. I see a lot of reviewers had problems with it because of the cord being to short. I solved this problem by using my USB Power Adapter (for my ipod) and an extension cord. You can charge the battery while using the Fit Board or charge it while not using it just by using any electrical outlet (you don't have to plug into Wii). |

| After reading the reviews on the rechargeable battery pack, I was a little skeptical in buying the product, but now I am glad that I did. People mention that the cord used is too short to charge the battery pack while on the Balance Board, but why are you limiting yourself to charging the battery pack while trying to enjoy yourself on the balance board? The battery pack can be recharged via the USB port in the back of the Wii when you are playing other games or any other device that is on and has a USB port. To make thing simple, I charge my battery pack while I am playing other games on the Wii or while I am on the computer, which is most of the time. I haven't had near tripping accidents because I have never tried to recharge the battery pack while attached to the Wii. Seems easy to me. |

| I have been using this device for over 6 months and have nothing but a good experience with it. I charge it with my Wii console after I receive word for Wii that my batteries are low. I leave it on charge overnight and the next day I am good to go. I can't imagine trying to use it when it is charging or plugged into a computer, or am I missing something. I hope that I don't experience the problems others have stated, but so far so good. |

I bought this product with the intent of never having to keep replacing regular batteries in my Wii Fit Balance Board. This battery pack was perfect for that. Because of the placement of my Wii Console (only 1 foot off of the ground), I was able keep the battery pack charging while playing Wii Fit. Also, if I wanted to keep the pack charging while playing other games, I could very easily disconnect the battery pack from the Balance Board and sit it next to the Wii Console. I can understand if others have their Wii Console higher off the ground or otherwise further away from where the Balance Board would be that they would have problems charging it while using it, but again you can very easily disconnect the battery pack from the board when you're done and keep charging it separately with the Console when needed.
I love this thing. :) |

I was skeptical because of the reviews, but then just decided to go for it since all of the other NYKO rechargeable battery items I have purchased. Works GREAT, no issues. I did put the feet on my balance board from the start. I have carpet and because I did read the reviews before hand. NYKO ROCKS! |

| Reviewer: C. Petit, Northeastern US |
When I purchased the Wii Fit, I also purchased this pack at the same time.
It's definitely a good value, since the Wii Fit probably drains AA batteries quickly. I've used mine for 9 days with no problems. As long as the battery pack is charged, I can unplug the board and use it as far away as I'd like.
Unfortunately, the USB cord is pretty short and, in addition, the recharge pack covers the Sync button you use to setup the board.
Overall a good value, but those issues are minor annoyances.

The wii fit, like the wiimotes comes with starter batteries. but it is pretty much a battery drainer. save your self some money in the long run and invest in this rechargable battery.
i've had the wii fit for a few days now and i spend 45 minutes doing the exercises, and additional time looking thru the menus. so that means i could only use the balance board about 20 times or 20 days before having to replace the batteries.
plus the rechargables are greener, since they dont have to go in a landfill :) |

| I bought mine right away, and I'm glad that I did. Replacing 4 AA batteries at the same time would have gotten old and expensive fast. One downside...you can charge the batteries using a computer or the Wii, but if you use the Wii to charge you can't play while the batteries are charging; save the disposably batteries and use them to play while the battery pack is recharging. |

| The recharger works great. It is a bit of a tight fit installing it in the balance board battery bay so I would recommend schlepping your balance board over to the Wii and charging it with the pack installed. Charge lasts for about 5 - 10 sessions. I'm sure I've saved enough in batteries to pay for this unit. It's a no-brainer, if you have a balance board, you need this charger. |

| The Rechargeable Battery Pack for Wii Fit is a must-have for anyone who does not already have rechargeable batteries. It lasted for a good 15-20 hours per charge. It can charge via usb while you are playing, but the cable isn't really long enough for that. If you don't feel like charging it with the Wii, you can hook it up to any powered USB port. It is kind of difficult to remove from the board, and it's not the easiest to put back on either, but it works and that's all that matters. |

| I've used this for about 3 weeks now and haven't had any problems. Yes the USB connection is short - the solution is to buy a 10-foot USB cord for $5 (available on Amazon). That gives me more than enough slack to operate the Wii board while still attached to the Wii. I never disconnect it so it's always charged. Not a wireless solution, but it works for me. |
Great product (I thought), short cord
|
| Review Date: March 1, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Micheal R. Lee, Northern California |
I'm glad I read other reviews before buying this product. Many other reviewers mentioned the cord being too short to use it as stated (charge while using, INDEED!). Due to reading other's reviews, I purchased a 7 dollar USB extension cord from Amazon at the same time I ordered my charger. While I agree this shouldn't have been necessary, it solved the problem. I can now charge my Wii Fit and use it at the same time as mentioned.
Another gripe that was mentioned it prior reviews was the fact that the Wii must be turned on the whole time to charge your unit. I would point out that the output power on a USB port is 5 volts DC whether that port is on a Wii or a computer or whatever. My surround receiver has a USB port on the front of the unit for playing music off a flash drive, etc. My receiver is usually on all day long for something (TV, music...). I simply use that USB port to charge my Wii Fit. Works great. An always on computer would accomplish the same goal if one is worried about leaving the Wii on for a prolonged period.
UPDATE:
Shortly after I wrote the above review my balance board started malfunctioning. Specifically, it would act as if there was weight on it even when there wasn't. Every time I started up for a fit test it would tell me to step off and press A even though there was no one on the board. I would have to grasp the left side of the board and lift up on it slightly to git it to start up. I tried it with and without the foot extensions to no avail. I called Nintendo and the tech on the line told me that it was quite likely that this battery pack caused damage to my balance board. I can neither confirm nor deny this but it is quite the coincidence that it malfunctioned several days after installing the pack after working fine for over a month! The good news: Nintendois fixing the board under warranty, including shipping both ways, and it's supposed to be back today. I am pretty disappointed now though having spent the 30 bucks on this battery pack. Us this at your own risk! |

| I don't really know why people are actually giving such low scores. I find using this product (rechargeable batteries) actually quite useful. I've charged it only once so far (the very first time when I opened it, as it had suggested to charge before using) and it's lasting for quite a while. I've been using it for two weeks now for leaving it on and playing with it for about an hour each day--it's still going strong! My only negative comment about this is like the others--the charging cord is too short! The first time I charged it, I felt like I couldn't play with it just because it was too close to the TV.... |

| The Wii rechargeable battery works fine for me. We use our Wii Fit every day and as long as we remember to let it charge overnight every few days it works fine and saves the cost of new batteries. The cord is quite short so we don't charge it while we're using the game. Every few days after we've finished our workouts, we plug it in and leave it overnight. | This battery uses a usb plug to charge so you can only charge the battery when it is either plugged into the Wii while the power is on or pluged into a pc while the power is on. The battery has no wall outlet plug so you are limited as to how you can recharge the battery. Other than that the battery holds the charge well and works great! |

I purchased this product at the same time I pre-ordered the Wii Fit.
I personally had no problems with the syncing of my board.
I initially used the enclosed batteries to set up the board as the charger needed to well, charge.
My first gripe is this: right on the packaging it states that you can charge while in game play.
Ummm no, the cord is too short!!!!
There is no way you can perform the excerise saftly with a short cord plugged into the Wii's usb, which now would need to be placed on the floor.
A completely ridiculous theory in my opinion, so do not buy it for this feature!
For an example to how short the cord is:
My tv is on a reletively low 2 shelf tv stand.
The Wii sits next to the tv.
I attatched charger to the usb port and to the board, which now has to be stood up.
I cannot even lay the board flat directly in front of the tv.
My second gripe is that it will only charge while the Wii unit is on.
I personally don't like running my unit for all those extra hours unnessasarily, I'm afraid of burning out the motor quite frankly.
I gave is three stars as it does actually charge the unit. |

| The rechargeable battery pack works well, but it seems like it needs to be plugged in a lot more than I'd like. It would be more helpful if the USB cord was longer so you could actually use the feature of being able to plug it into the Wii console as you work out so it continues to charge. I will have to purchase a USB extension to be able to fully use it. |
Recharger needed, but could be better value for the money.

| Obviously, with anything Wii-related that takes batteries a rechargeable power supply is needed unless you own stock in Energizer. But, given the price for this unit, it would have been nice if the MFG had a USB cable that was at least 6ft. (more like 10ft.) instead of the measly 3ft. cable provided. Most people don't put their Wii console on the floor and would like to NOT have to take the battery pack unit out every time to charge it. I think the MFG was just cutting corners because they know that anything Wii-related will sell big for them. As always, the consumer is always the one to pay. I would get a USB extender online since Best Buy and others are high in price. |
